Not used (for system purpose or home) ext3/4 partition will not automount same as ntfs partition. The easiest way to automount ext3/4 partition is with Storage Device Manager.
Storege Device Manager is available on Ubuntu Software Center, or search for pysdm in other distribution repositories.
After installing Storage Device Manager in partition list select partition that you want to automount on system startup and click on Assistant button.
There in Mounting tab check The file system is mounted at boot time.
