How To Disable Package From Updating In Ubuntu

Because Gnome-DO update in Ubuntu 10.10 now it is always offering me to update to latest Gnome-DO.
So to make my life easier and not uncheck it always i disabled, "locked" that Gnome-DO version.

You can do this with any package (application) you want.
First you need to get package name for that application, you can do this by going to update manager and package name will be under update name:

Now go to Synaptic Package Manager (System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager)

Click search button and type package name.

When you find package select it and go to Package (in menu) and click Lock Version

and you are done, now that package will not show in update manager and it will not be updated.
