Cisco Packet Tracer is a network simulation program that allows students to experiment with network behavior and ask “what if” questions. As an integral part of the Networking Academy comprehensive learning experience, Packet Tracer provides simulation, visualization, authoring, assessment, and collaboration capabilities and facilitates the teaching and learning of complex technology concepts.
To install Cisco Packet Tracer in Ubuntu first download installation.
Installation comes in two forms: Cisco Packet Tracer 6.0.1 for Linux - Ubuntu installation (with tutorials) and Cisco Packet Tracer 6.0.1 for Linux (no tutorials).
Chose Cisco Packet Tracer 6.0.1 for Linux - Ubuntu installation (with tutorials) this version is designed for Ubuntu and it also have integrated tutorials.
If you have 64 bit system you need to install ia32-libs-gtk with following command:
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs-gtk
Now copy file Cisco Packet Tracer 6.0.1 for Linux - Ubuntu installation (with tutorials)to home folder and rename it to Cisco.bin
Now allow executing file as program using chmod +x command or right click > properties > Permissions > Allow executing file as program
At end run ./Cisco.bin command
