How To Fix Video Tearing With Compiz

Video tearing is still problems to some users even Sync To VBlank is enabled.

Video tearing for some users only happens when video is on fullscreen.

To fix this you need to install compizconfig-settings-manager

If you don't have it open terminal and type:

sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
Open it (System > Peferences > Compiz Setting Manager)

navigate to General Options > Display Settings

uncheck "Detect Refresh Rate" if the wrong refresh rate is displayed below

make sure "Refresh Rate" is correct

check "Sync To VBlank"

Also navigate to General Options

check "Undirect Fullscreen Windows"

You're done, now enjoy videos without tearing.
