Whats New In Ubuntu 10.10 Beta

Beta version of upcoming Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat has been released and it bring loot of new stuff.

Let start from under the hood.


10.10 Beta comes with 2.6.35-19 Linux Kernel and 2.31.90 (08/18/2010) Gnome version.


New gnome version brings Evolution mail client version 2.30, latest Transmission bittorrent client and Firefox version 3.6.9.


xorg-server has been update to version 1.9 also Ubuntu 10.10 will support for Multi-Touch.
BTRFS new file system have been delayed to 11.04.

Beta comes with new installer,

New installer allows you to install support for mp3/Flash/Java/DVD and proprietary drivers for wireless cards.


Light themes have been updated,

Ambiance/Radiance
Themes now have more orange colour in theme and window buttons have new look.


Humanity icon
Icons had small update such as Back/Forward/Up/Home


Wallpapers
There is new default wallpaper, it is same as in 10.04 but this one have orange things...


Also there is new set of wallpapers from community.



In software, F-Spot has been replaced with Shotwell Photo Manager


Ubuntu Software Center got some updates,


USC have new feature such as "Where is it?", "Chose addons" and "For Purchase".

"Where is it?" will show you where application will be located (in menu) when you install it.


"Chose addons" will allow you to install extra packages (addons) for application (if addons are available).



"For Purchase" is new category, in this category you will are able to buy commercial linux software.


Sound Menu have been updated tool, buttons have been updated to merge with theme and font have so song informations can fit.
Also playlist support and scrubber have been removed.
